1st Bath

All is going well at the beginning of week three.  Auna is kind of on a schedule and we are hoping it holds for a bit. We are able to get some sleep during the night, which makes the days better. 

Al's mom, Marylu, was here before, during the delivery and for the week after we brought Auna home. She was a great help and source of support. We truly enjoyed her being here and are blessed she could take her work mobile to be with us. Auna misses her cuddles! Thank you Nanalu!

My mom and dad came up when Auna was born, but due to her being in the NICU, they didn't get to spend much time with her. My mom came back on Sunday and stayed for the week. It was wonderful to have her here. She helped get our house back in order after the flood and spent lots of time with Auna. I am so glad she came and we have many things to laugh about in the future. Thanks for everything Mom!!!

Auna had her first bath yesterday and liked it. We put her in the sink and she just hung out. We were all surprised as we were waiting for a big scream. Above are a few pictures of the big event and some extra pics as well.

30 Faces of Auna

Since our little peanut loves to make funny faces, I decided to try and capture some of them.  I didn't get any of the smirks or smiles yet, but this is a pretty good set of some of them.  I thought about labeling them with an emotion but some of them left me at a loss for words.

The NICU nurses loved this outfit that Jill's good friend Haley sent.  Being Easter, we had the nurses dress her the night before for the big day.  They also slept her on her tummy before we got there so when I un-swaddled her, I was greeted with her little bunny butt.  

It is absolutely unbelievable how fast she changes by the day.  You can see in these pictures how different she looks from Thursday already.

We are praying that she gets to come home with us tomorrow.  While she is in good hands in the NICU, and it allows us to try to sleep a full night, we find ourselves obsessing all night about not having her home.  The whole birthing adventure was a very surreal experience but the weirdest part was being discharged from the hospital and heading home with no baby.  Jill and I discussed how it was like we didn't really live here and that it was as if we were on some messed up vacation or bad dream.

Baby Kugel is here!

As you may have guessed by the new background color....It's a Girl!.  Auna Aurell Kugel was born 4/9/09 at 1:22am weighing in at 7lbs6oz and measuring 21..25 inches.

Mom and baby are doing just fine after a long and stressful birth.  We are glad she's here and can't wait to bring her home.
